The country-music star Jason Aldean and the rapper Nicki Minaj will be among the first-time performers during the Grammy Awards ceremony on Feb. 12, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences announced on Thursday. Mr. Aldean and Ms. Minaj are nominated for several awards. They will be joined by Kelly Clarkson, Foo Fighters, Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift.

There was no word in Thursdays announcement about whether Adele would perform during the ceremony, to be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast on CBS. She had the best selling album last year with 21 (XL/Columbia) and is nominated for six awards, including record, album and song of the year. But she underwent throat surgery last fall to stop bleeding in her vocal cords and her participation remains up in the air.

Ms. Minaj had a breakout year, riding the popularity of her hit single Super Bass and her album Pink Friday. She is nominated for best new artist, best rap album and two other awards for collaborations she did with other artists. Mr. Aldean dominated the country charts last year with his album My Kinda Party. Hes up for three awards in the country field.
