This is Nicki Minajs first season as a judge on American Idol and already people are comparing her to former rough and tough judge, Simon Cowell. Are Nickis comments to the contestants too harsh? Keep reading for more details.

On Thursdays episode of Idol, Nicki didnt hold back delivering harsh criticism to several contestants. First up was Paul Jolley. He took the stage proclaiming how nervous he was, how bad he wanted this, and promised to hold it together during his performance. After he sang Carrie Un! derwoods Blown Away, Nicki let him know she didnt like the way he presented himself to the judges. You walked out so defeated, and that really irritated me. Its such a turnoffJust give us one minute of professionalism.

Matheus Fernandes didnt fare any better. When he took the stage, he reminded the judges he was 22 not 10, referring to his short stature. And Nicki was quick to let him know it wasnt necessary to make reference to his height before every performance. Sometimes things can go from inspiring to becoming a wanting a pity party, she said. You dont have to milk that ever again. Br you, be great and just rest in your talent after today.

Papa Peachez was another contestant that fell under Nickis harsh critique. During group rounds, she had cautioned him about being too complacent. And after his solo of Lady Gagas You And I, she asked if he remembered what she had told him after groups. Im pretty sure that flame is now completely burnt out. Im so disappointed, she explained. I cant believe you allowed this competition to just suck that amazing quality out of you.

Were Nickis comments too harsh or were they what the contestants needed to hear in order to get better? Is she is as harsh as Simon? Post a comment and let us know.
