Lil Wayne admits he hasn't seen Nicki Minaj on 'American Idol'

Lil Wayne admitted recently that he hasn't seen his protege Nicki Minaj in her role as a judge on "American Idol." In fact, Lil Wayne said he has never watched the show.

"Actually, I've never watched it," he told The Associated Press on Friday, February 1, when asked if he's seen Minaj on the program. Minaj officially signed on to "Amercian Idol" back in September.

He told the wire service that part of the reason he hasn't watched the show when Minaj has been on is because she told Lil Wayne it wouldn't interest him.

"When I talk to her she's always tells me, 'You don't wanna watch that, you're not going to be into it,'" he said. "She knows me. ... It's kind of like a catfight where they be going back and forth type of thing, I'm not into all that."

Lil Wayne may have been referring to the arguments between Minaj and fellow judge Mariah Carey. In October 2012, the website TMZ posted a video o! f Minaj and Carey arguing at the judges' table during a taping of auditions in Charlotte, North Carolina. Minaj hurled expletives at the singer. FOX had no comment on the video.

Barbara Walters later said on the daytime show "The View" that Carey claimed multiple people heard Minaj say, "If I had a gun, I would shoot the [expletive]" following her expletive-filled rant. The rapper has denied saying such a thing.

Lil Wayne did say, however, that he heard the season had some solid contestants.

"The talent on that is pretty good I heard, though," he said.

The rapper spoke to The Associated Press after signing autographs at a New Orleans Macy's to support his Trukfit clothing line. The line is just for men at the moment but Lil Wayne told the wire service that he hopes to expand the business to include lines for women and children. The rapper is also gearing up to release his new album titled "I Am Not A Human Being II" on March 26.

Meanwhile, former "American Idol" judge Steven Tyler appeared on the show on Thursday, January 31, dressed in drag.

The "Dude Look Like a Lady" singer appeared in front of the new judging panel, which includes rapper Minaj, country singer Keith Urban and Carey.
