Nicki Minaj's OPI Nail Collection Teams Up With The Illustrated Nail For Killer Barbz-Inspired Nail Art

We basically died and went to heaven when we found out that Nicki Minaj's OPI nail lacquer collection (filled with bright green, blue, and pink hues, TONS of glitter, and even a crackle topcoat!) will hit stores in early 2012, but THENNNN *gasps for breath* while we were perusing the ol' Tumblr, the nail art geniuses over at The Illustrated Nail posted some DROP-EVERYTHING-YOU-ARE-DOING-AND-READ-THIS news, which made us even MORE excited for the Nicki x OPI launch. In celebration of Ms. Minaj's new collection, the London-based nail boutique created to-die-for nail art designs inspired by Barbz herself WITH the colors from her collection! I know, I know, it's a lot to take in, and if you live in London, you can sport this original artwork firsthand (heh) or if you don't (like us) you re-create these nails on your own with the polishes from Nicki's line. The hand-painted Illustrated Nail designs won't be available until January 2012, but that doesn't mean we can't get a head start trying to re-create these BEAUTS ourselves!

Ladies (or gents! We don't judgeee.), these six colors (above) are what you'll be workin' with. Not too shabby, eh? The polishes from left to right are: Did It On 'Em, Super Bass, Fly, Pink Friday, Metallic 4 Life, and Save Me. Luckily, most of these designs are SUPER easy to re-createthe center bottom nail is just a swipe of Did It On 'Em and Pink Friday with a coat of the Super Bass crackle on top. Such a cinch! For the more detailed designs (like the bow or letters) use a toothpick or a nail art brush (hayyy , cheap Christmas present!) for more controlled lines and edges. For the leopard nails, watch ANY leopard DIY tutorial (we love this one!) and just sub in their colors for yours. Beginners, stick to the lightning bolt, heart, and simple V-shaped designs, and if you're WAY advanced, we suggest the tattooed heart with Nicki's name across it. If you want a little bit of both, try that Keith Haring-inspired design on the left. And, um, we KNOW you already know how to do Keith Haring nail designs because that was soooo two weeks ago. So, get to it, Barbz and Kenz!
