Katie Couric is not usually one to spill the beans before shes supposed to, but it appears she recently did just that on the Today Show.Americas Sweetheart pointed toNicki Minaj and Keith Urban as the new judges ofAmerican Idol.Problem is, FOX has yet to give the official announcement!
According to Katie Couric, American Idolwill get an infusion of country and hip hop next season, because Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj will be joining the judging panel! Katie let the big news slip during a recent interview with former Idoljudge Jennifer Lopez.
JLo was obviously surprised to hear about the new judges, quickly asking, Did they announce? Katie confirmed that, yes, Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj were officially the new judges. Were not quite sure where she got her information, given FOXs recent announcement: Please note that the only confirmed judge forAmerican Idolis Mariah Carey. No other judges have been annou! nced at this time. Were not sure if this means that FOX is pissed about Katie spilling the beans, or whether they really havent decided on a judge yet.
Nicki and Keith may not be the new judges, but if they are, JLo thinks that theyll add interest to the panel. When asked for her opinion on the potential judges, the pop diva said, Thats an eclectic group.Ithink they all have something really different to offer, so it should be interesting.
