Nicki Minaj raps about Mitt Romney, is it an endorsement?

Is Nicki Minaj backing Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney for the 2012 presidential election in November?

The rapper appears on a track called "Mercy" on Lil Wayne's new mixtape "Dedication 4," which can be heard at RapDose. On the "Mercy" track, which uses the beat from a Kanye West song by the same name, Minaj says, "I'm a Republican voting for Mitt Romney, you lazy [expletive] are [expletive] up the economy."

Spokespeople for Minaj had no immediate comment about the lyric when asked by OnTheRedCarpet.com.

Minaj, whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj, was born in Trinidad and Tobago and it is unclear if she is able to or is registered to vote in the United States. Minaj and her family moved to Queens, New York, when the rapper was 5 years old.

The "Superbass" and "Starships" rapper is k! nown for her elaborate stage appearance as well as her numerous personalities she takes on during songs. Shortly after she raps about Romney, she talked about being in Miami and "chillen' with a zombie."

Minaj has stayed quiet on her Twitter page since September 1.

It was reported last month that she was in talks to join Mariah Carey as an "American Idol" judge for the show's next season. A FOX representative had no immediate comment on the reports. Minaj herself has also not addressed the rumors.

It was also announced today that Minaj will perform at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 6.
