Nicki Minaj - Nicki Minaj's Guest At The Grammys? The Pope

Nicki Minaj certainly did her best to stand out at a Grammy Awards packed with the biggest names in the music business on Sunday (February 12, 2012). Though Adele, Lady Gaga, Chris Brown and Rihanna made their way down the red-carpet to rapturous applause and screaming fans, it was Minaj who stole the show with a very special guest.

The Trinidad and Tobago native arrived at the Staples Center in Los Angeles looking like a spooky version of Red Riding Hood, complete with red dress and matching cloak. Though accompanying her down the red-carpet was an unidentified man - reportedly an actor - who was dressed as the Pope, specifically John Paul II, it has been reported. Nicki's bizarre Grammys didn't stop there however - her live performance of new single 'Roman Holiday' towards the end of the show saw the Pink Friday star perform a prime-time exorcism on herself. The rapper levitated, writhed and swooped around a stained-glass window set surrounded by men in white-robes. Her whole Grammys routine could turn-out to be a successful PR exercise, given 'Roman Holiday' was set to be made available on iTunes immediately after Sunday's telecast.

Nevertheless, Minaj was heavily fancied to win the award for Best New Artist at the ceremony, and her bizarre routine was probably intended to tie-in with her expected triumph. However, it was the Justin Vernon's acclaimed folk-band Bon Iver who scooped the prize, despite self-releasing their debut album 'For Emma, Forever Ago', in 2007.
