'Beez In The Trap' by Nicki Minaj

Track Review for Minaj's "Beez In The Trap"

Nicki Minaj, who has been known to produce catchy songs with vulgar lyrics, has done it again. However, this time, the song is catchy in a slightly annoying way.

Beez In The Trap is yet another Minaj song that showcases her ability to hang with the boys. Nicki proves her rapping abilities saying Pimpin aint slick/ They aint say nothin/ A hundred of ya suckas cant tell me nothin. As fun as these lyrics might be to sing along to, they almost make no sense at all. One would assume I beez in the trap is not a phrase that a mainstream audience would understand, making the struggle to figure it out all the more confusing.

The importance of comprehending the lyrics to a rap song should only fall to the wayside if the beat and background music make up for it. Alas, Nicki has not only produced a song that makes no sense, she also has little to no music to make it worthwhile. An electronic bubble pop sound replays irritatingly as Minaj raps senseless lyrics over top, getting stuck in your head like the repetitive car alarm next door.

There is no doubt youll walk away singing I beez in the trap/ beez beez in the trap as the hook sticks with you like an unwanted cold.
