Nicki Minaj scrapped her performance at Hot 97's Summer Jam event on Sunday (3rd June) after one of the radio station's DJs slammed her music.
The Super Bass rapper was due to take to the stage at the US event over the weekend but pulled out last minute following comments made by Hot 97 host, Peter Rosenberg.
According to Billboard, Rosenberg branded Minaj's worldwide smash hit Starships as "not real hip-hop", leaving Young Money CEO Lil Wayne to cancel her performance.
Weezy stated on Twitter: "Young Money ain't doing summer jam" - with Nicki adding: "What he says, goes."
The 29-year old later addressed her cancelled appearance during a chat with Hot 97's Funkmaster Flex, claiming: "My fans did not appreciate [Rosenberg]'s comment.
"You know what? I wouldn't come on your stage when it's about us uniting people to come and see a show, I wouldn't say something to my fans, negative, leading up to that concert. Everyone is grown enough to keep opinions to themselves."
The presenters then tried talk Minaj round, to which she insisted: "I am not a joke - let me finish. When you disrespect Nicki Minaj, you're disrespecting my fans. I don't have a problem with anyone saying what they have to say to me. But don't make ['Starships' fans] feel inferior in any way for their personal taste in music."
She went on to add that it was Wayne and her management's decision to cancel the performance, explaining: "I am not a quitter. I don't back down from anything, including a show where someone's talking about me.
"Wayne gave me a valuable lesson last night on knowi! ng my wo rth he tweeted before he called me."
Minaj then went on to criticise Rosenberg for targeting her, one of the only artists on the Summer Jam bill, stating: "If that's not some bitch-ass s**t - for this person to single out the only female on the bill, I'm holding it down for women. I respect men who are real men, but if all you do is take shots at women."
Nicki has since confirmed that she will be play a free show for her fans in New Jersey later this summer to make up for cancelling her stint at the event.
