"Whip It" Nicki Minaj's New Track
Review of Minaj's New Dance Song
Nicki Minaj has once again strayed from her usual hardcore "run with the boys" style and produced another girly club hit. With a heavy dance beat like Starships, Whip It is clearly geared towards the female audience members.
Although Minaj seems to be showcasing her ability to sound like an auto-tuned pop star, based off of the catchy chorus, she still includes her trademark grunge rap voice. Roman, as Nicki calls her monster alter ego, makes the occasional debut on the track which keeps this hit far less fluffy than the hit Starships.
Whip It does give Minaj fans a chance to look into the hidden feminine side of the rap stars mind as she sings about falling for a stranger in the club. Buzzing about her new found attraction, Minaj flirtatiously sings out You got my world spinning/ My head goes round and around, round and around/Im really liking that way/ You whip it whip it.
Granted if you are only a fan of Minajs harder tracks, or not even a fan of Nicki at all, I would suggest you stay away from this track. However, if this song catches your fancy, be sure to check out her other track Pound The Alarm. It has a similar style as this one but with far more techno and is little less sing-songy.
