Not only is Nicki Minaj starting trouble with the American Idol judges sitting next to her, but she has also started beef with people who are no longer with the show.
Last week, Aerosmith frontman, former Idol judge, and scarf industry propper-upper Tyler gave Minajand the rest of her Idol cohortswhat for during a conversation with MTV News. I know that theyve got something going on on the judges panel, [and] it shouldnt be that, it should be just the opposite: They should have something going on, which is called camaraderie, he said.
They should have something going on so thick and beautiful that they can lay it over the new talent thats trying to birth itself. It needs to be birthed, not judged by entertainment factors, it needs to be judged by people that [are] honest, true, that have the it factor. Not! the it factor because they can fight. The f is that all about?
Tyler took particular umbrage with Minajs approach, saying, These kids, they just got out of a car from the Midwest somewhere and theyre in New York City, theyre scared to death; youre not going to get the best.If it was Bob Dylan, Nicki Minaj would have had him sent to the cornfield! Whereas, if it was Bob Dylan with us, we would have brought the best of him out, as we did with Phillip Phillips. Just saying.
Obviously, Tyler was continuing his Midwest riff when bringing up the idea of a cornfield. But Minaj didnt see it that way:LOL lets make him a shirt that says No Coloreds Allowed then escort him down 2 Barbara Walters so he can tell how he was threatened w/guns, she tweeted, conflating two of her most recent beefs with old people into a single message.
For his part, Tyler responded today during an appearance on a Canadian talk show. I apologize if it was taken wrong, Nicki. But I am the farthest thing from [being a racist] I am the last thing on this planet as far as being a racist, he said. I dont know where she got that out of me saying Im not sure how she would have judged Bob Dylan.
So now that they both have this non-controversy behind them, they can focus on trying to give mouth-to-mouth to their most recent albums: NickisPink Friday: Roman Reloaded The Re-Upsold a mere 36,000 copies out of ! the gate ! last week, and AerosmithsMusic From Another Dimension!shifted 31,000 units in its third week out.
